Breastfeeding Consultation

Difficulties and doubts surrounding breastfeeding are the main reason for needing a postpartum consultation. The most common complaints are pain during breastfeeding and uncertainty about whether milk production is adequate for the baby's needs. These are two major causes of early weaning and the introduction of formula without the mother receiving the necessary support.

An international lactation consultant is a breastfeeding specialist with the expertise to conduct a complete assessment and help the mother achieve her breastfeeding goals.

This is a standalone consultation, not part of any support package, and takes place at home or at a location of the couple's choosing, lasting approximately 2 hours. Subsequent consultations may be necessary, to be arranged with the couple according to their specific needs.

Includes:

- Complete physical assessment of the newborn, including weight

- Observation of breastfeeding, guidance on correcting latch and positioning

- Assessment of milk transfer to the baby and how to adjust production, if necessary

- Physical assessment of the mother (breasts, nipples) and discomfort, with relief strategies

- Laser therapy on nipple and perineal wounds/cesarean section wound, if necessary, to stimulate healing and improve pain.
